We want you to feel at home here at FBC! We will never call you out or make a scene when you visit with us. Do expect warm, friendly greetings at the door however!
Once you park in our parking lot, make your way inside. Don't forget to pick up a bulletin for this week's service! Once you are inside our sanctuary, you may sit anywhere that feels the most comfortable to you - there's no assigned seats!
We invite you to participate in our worship through singing congregational hymns and praying together as a church. Our aim is the glorify God, and we hope you can do that with us!
Pastor Matty Ponce-de-Leon has been Friendship Baptist Church’s pastor since 2023. Matty has served local churches as pastor since 2012. He is a committed, cooperating Southern Baptist who has served leadership committees on both the associational and state level in North Carolina. Matty began his Christian journey as a member of Friendship Baptist Church in 2006 and is grateful to be back home ministering with the congregation that loved he and his family to life. Matty serves together with his wife of 21 years, Alexis, and is the proud father of Aliece, Hunter (Aliece’s husband), Isaac, and Peyton.
Matty holds a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministries, a Master of the Arts in Christian Ministries, a Master of the Arts in Pastoral Counseling: Addictions and Recovery, and a Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Formation from Liberty University.
Matty also serves as the Chief Consultant of Blessed Hope Ministries. He is the author of Broken: Returning in Desperation to the Cross and has been nationally recognized for contributions concerning addiction ministry. Matty is passionate about supporting, serving, and equipping ministry leaders both regionally and internationally, and is involved in ongoing pastor training events and conferences.

Salvation comes through repentance and putting one's faith and trust in Jesus Christ. We cannot save ourselves through works, good deeds, or rituals, but Christ alone.
